Americans owe more than $1.48 trillion in student loan debt, spread out among about
44 million borrowers. That's about $620 billion more than the total U.S. credit card debt. (U.S. Federal Reserve and U.S. Department of Education, 2018)
2.6 million: borrowers whose student loans are in forbearance
4.3 million: borrowers whose student loans are in default (Department of Education, Office of Student Aid, 2018)
And here's a gap we'd really like to close:
$142,500: median household income of
529 college savings account holders in 2015;
$61,400: median household income of
American citizens in 2018 (CNBC, 2015; US Census, 2018)
We're not giving up.
And you don't have to go it alone. We know that seeing what's scary doesn't make it go away. But it's a start.
Give it a shot: look at what you want for yourself or your child, and see what it'll take to get there. We can help you add it up.
